Fabric Laser Cutting
We first started laser cutting fabric in May 2012 when Gert Johan Coetzee contacted us to assist with a
dress for Thembi Seete for her appearance at the South African Music Awards. The complete dress was given to us to cut Egyptian hieroglyphics into the bottom of the dress.
Once that was complete, Gert, who had been browsing the Laser Creations website, saw the
MDF Christmas trees which we had cut for The Backyard Catering Company. He loved the pattern of the tree, and asked that we laser cut the same tree pattern into some of the gold fabric to finish of the top of the dress.
Since then, we have laser cut fabric for other designers, dress makers and fashion students. We cut everything from delicate chiffon to genuine leathers. Laser cutting adds so much more to the design of a garment and allows the designer to create something truly unique.
In order to make the process as simple as possible, have a vector design ready and if applicable a cut pattern for us to scan and redraw.
